I love the idea of Ratchet being captured while badly injured. It wasn't necessarily on purpose-- he knows the Cons would love to take him prisoner in order to utilize his medical skills, he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Once they realized he was a medic they pulled him from the rubble and got him on a slab pretty quickly all things considered. The trouble is there's a reason the Cons value medical expertise-- he's bleeding out, they don't have enough supplies, and at this rate Ratchet knows he's gonna die. So with whatever strength he can muster he gets the attention of one of the grunts working on him.
Ratchet: H... hey... I need you... to pass on a message...
Con 1: To who, your Prime? Not gonna happen.
Con 2: Yeah we don't really do the 'any last words' thing.
Ratchet: No... *wheeze* to Deadlock.
Con 1 & 2: *go still*
Ratchet: Tell 'im... I'll... be waiting... for him...
Con 2: Wait a klik...
Con 1: ... You don't think--?
Con 2: -- Frag! Oh frag!! His vitals!!! Dealock is gonna kill us!!
Con 1: Scrap! Get Soundwave on the line, have him patch to the DJD!
Con 2: He's not gonna make it! I don't want them to know my face!
Con 1: It. won't. matter. If we wait, it'll look worse!
Con 2: Oh Primus, I hope they don't pick up...
Con 1: Just go!!!
Ratchet: ... I'm waitin' to... kick his aft... *passes out*
#ratchlock#cue Ratchet miraculously pulling through#mainly cuz the djd pulled rank and got ratchet transported to better care#which was only allowed because megs couldn't really afford to have deadlock lose his marbles and kill everybody right after a battle#deadlock isn't there when he wakes up. he's still a bit of a coward in that regard.#he also wanted to first focus on getting ratchet better before like... bombarding them both with feels#tarn is delighted to finally have a face and name to go with deadlock's medic obsession-- it's a weakness easily exploited#Megs is annoyed af. of COURSE your precious assumed-to-be-dead-or-never-real-to-begin-with medic HAD to be Prime's lapdog and CMO.#couldn't have been some random hick from Nyon noooo it had to be literally the most important medic this side of the galaxy.#now Megs has multiple issues to deal with. for one-- Optimus and the Bots obviously wants Ratchet back.#almost desperately so. which could be an excellent bargaining chip in a prisoner exchange or even a general hostage demand situation#HOWEVER Deadlock and the djd appear to want to keep the bugger... and there will likely be consequences if they cannot.#*sigh* maybe megs will be lucky and Ratchet will conveniently escape on his own.#but then again-- Ratchet is clearly LINGERING instead of making escape attempts??? does he have a death wish???? megs is TIRED

There's something so poetic about how El is the centre of all the chaos, wanted by the government and military and Mike is her strong calm that doesn't hesitate to get sucked into her storm and stand by her side in the face of any conflict. Like guys. This little boy did not hesitate to protect her and stand off in the face of the government to defend her, going against all the typical patriotic rule-following norms of an American Suburbanite Middle class nuclear family. He comes from pure safe normalcy but doesn't hesitate to run in the other direction heading towards chaos and danger if it means she's there... because he feels safest with her and is driven by the instinct to protect her. 😭🩷 There's something so beautiful and inspiring about someone as hurt and troubled and chaotic as El being loved in such a simple, unconditional way. Mike doesn't see her for the chaos she represents which surrounds her, he sees her for the innocent goodness that she actually is— her calm, gentle demeanour and the warmth it makes him feel. He understands that all the danger that comes with being with her is through no fault of her own, and actively works to help combat all the forces against her. He knows that despite being the centre of the chaos she's not the cause of it, she's the remedy for the effect of it and that is an undeserved, exhausting punishment yet a burden she bears regardless without complaint— a sign of her innate goodness which Mike recognises and loves her for all the more. Even moreso, he works to share that burden with her and criticise it because he sees how innocent and undeserving she is of the responsibility infringed upon her. His willingness to take all of this on is so wholesome and exactly the kind of sweet effort-full love that a character like El deserves, which is so gratifying for the audience to see.
#mileven#something intense about how the one girl he wants#the only one he has and will ever loved#is also the only one that is supposed to be off limits and unconventional for him#they come from two completely different backgrounds#him a middle class nuclear American family#her born and bred as a weapon to use in the Cold War#forever wanted by the government for her uses as a spy and such rather than a normal girl who wants a future with love and a family#yet despite all of these expectations mike doesnt gaf and only sees her as the love of his life#and he'll never stop fighting for their chance to live happily together as a normal couple even if shes treated otherwise 🩷#When he tells the gov he'd never tell them where she is#when he surrenders himself to them as long as it holds them off from getting to her a little longer#when he throws himself into direct danger in s2 in the tunnels#when he proves once again his ability to make logical rational plans in s3 that protect everyone and lessen the burden on el#s4 - he immediately devotes himself to getting her back from the clutches of the government#theyre so excellent man. Mike Wheeler is the perfect boyfriend#he doesnt care about the fact that he shouldn't love her#all he cares about is that he does love her#The lab kept trying to stamp out her individuality and stamp her objectification on her wrist so that everyone else could see her#as the weapon she was raised to be#but Mike immediately ignored that and gave her a real name#from the beginning he only ever saw her as the courageous brilliant hopeful pretty girl that he loved#even when everyone else knew her as eleven the lab girl with mind powers first#mike always saw her as el the unique girl locked deep within her who he wanted to get to know and love#this wasnt supposed to be the lengthy monster that it is but what can i say. im insane about these two#Who's up in the big 2025 appreciating Mileven as the fictional paragon of true love 🗣️🗣️🗣️#the romeo and julietism of mileven#but better#when she keeps up the strong front until shes with him then she can collapse in his arms and be needy and vulnerable#e.g. s3 billy fight scene... s4 desert reunion

I have this disease that makes me find it hot and cool as hell when a characters eyes glow, as a warning, when they’re really angry or when they’re uploading unimaginable power, to absolutely waste the shit out of their target, the way their eyes glow as a threat, as a threat of great power, and I find that hot and cool as hell.

The idea of (trans) Zoro doing voice training by himself makes me laugh thinking of what his feminine voice must sound like and exactly how Zoro could use it to fuck with Sanji somehow
#my preferred method is using his other voice to pretend he's like a ghost or something#just doing it out of nowhere around usopp and let the anxiety roll as he convinces himself it was a ghost#and tell everyone else that it definitely a ghost until it reaches sanji and he too is convinced its a ghost#tho i honestly cant imagine he ever had a naturally 'feminine' voice tbh#his pitch has probably always been lower to begin with to the point where it made it easy for his voice to pass#but also he does an EXCELLENT valley girl accent lmao#one piece#one piece headcanons#roronoa zoro#vinsmoke sanji#black leg sanji#trans zoro

Look at this glorious illustration @praise-the-lord-im-dead drew of Noemie Gardeine, the main character from my old WIP, The Brilliant Hour.
This is from a scene in the first chapter. It's the moment when Noemie's in her performance clothes at a Night Market festival, and spots a flaming bottle of oil thrown from a great height, about to smash.
Didn't @praise-the-lord-im-dead do a terrific job?
#I had planned on saving this to share with an excerpt but the passage in question is being stubborn and I didn't want to put it off too long#I love that she looks like a fourteen year old. She looks like she could be in my lower high class. I love her flyaways from under her#khustka. I love the sense of space and how much the foreshortening does for the picture - look at the distance between her hands!#I love how she's alarmed but the alarm is still processing - not overstated#I love all the embellishments on her clothing and the rich greens and purple. I love the poof and fittedness of her sleeves#and wraps at her ankles and her excellent shoes for tumbling in.#I love the artistic angle and the feeling of motion beginning#I love how it looks like she's tried to piece together a cohesive and festive look with the fancy clothing pieces she has picked up along#the way of her life but it's not all made to match because there's no way she could get her hands on a complete outfit.#And I love the background colour - the Night Market is full of bonfires and gold falling from overhead and red canvas vendors' stalls#so these warm tones work really well!#Thank you for all the skill you brought to this piece#And you all - you all should go commission her if you ever have a chance!#the brilliant hour#noemie#canvas of the eye#noveling#my writing

Arya made a face and hugged the wolfling tight. Nymeria licked her ear, and she giggled. (Arya I, AGoT)
--
“Girls don’t shave,” Arya said. “Maybe they should. Have you ever seen the septa’s legs?” She giggled at him. “It’s so skinny.” (Jon II, AGoT)
--
"Stay away?" Mercy giggled. She was a giggly sort of girl, was Mercy. "No. I've got to get closer." (Mercy, TWoW)
Mercy was a giggly sort of girl...and so was Arya, once upon a time.
#arya stark#canonarya#asoiaf#valyrianscrolls#Arya's supposed to be trying to forget her identity but through her aliases she's actually rediscovering herself in this essay I-#she was so happy and giggly in the first book oh my god 😭 baby she's just a baby#this isn't to say that I think she's /as/ giggly as Mercy is supposed to be but she definitely has that side to her#that hasn't really had the chance to be shown considering everything she's been through#the way she was at her happiest in Winterfell because by her second chapter the Trident incident had already happened...#please let TWOW be the end of her suffering she deserves to be happy 😔#makes me so sad for her but also makes me appreciate the writing cause George has been delivering excellence since the beginning with her#Arya II (AGOT) will always be among my favorite chapters

Day 15!!
This was technically made before I started the dailies but I am very tired and also very proud of this drawing so I'm posting this instead of scrambling to make a new proper drawing lmao

Still made a doodle to maintain integrity of the dailies :3
#papr daily#papr art#mafukasa#the lyrics are from quiet room by ewe#it's a mafukasa song to me#the drawing itself was inspired by my wish that they could lean into the drama (for lack of a better word)#that comes from the mafukasa narrative foilisms#Tsukasa has everything Mafuyu has ever wished for...Mafuyu excels in everything she does in the way Tsukasa wishes he could...#they have lived lives the other couldn't even begin to IMAGINE and it's INSANE that it hasn't been referenced ever#Like hell just look at their SEKAIs one is defined by being filled to the brim and beyond and the other is defined by its emptiness#you can't get a better set-up than that!!!!!!!#have I had this rant here before. sometimes i think about sullivan and how his n iruma’s relationship progresses and what made him choose iruma. i mean it was probably something to do with delkira that made him pick iruma up but i also think about that comment he makes early on in the series, that the others in the 3 greats have grandkids and he doesnt and how hed love to have a grandkid. and how he sends iruma to babyls partly because thats what a proper caretaker is meant to do. and how at the beginning maybe hes playacting and thinking yes this is the boy i have brought over for unspecified reasons, My Grandson, and i am the Grandfather (yay!) but its only later on that The Grandson becomes Iruma Suzuki first and then Sullivan’s Grandson second. and then i get happy about it
#i think half of this has been cooked up in my head from that one offhand comment and also some common sense (i mean he still has some#affection or makes sure to show it at least but i dont know that its genuine . at least in the beginning. wouldnt it be strange if you love#a stranger immediately?)#(but then again the idea that he loves iruma immediately is also fun because i imagine itd be him projecting his affection for delkira onto#this kid and then later it becomes something real….)#but anyway the point is to say that i like that even if it wasnt real in the beginning he still tries hard to pretend and he does look out#for iruma#like. excellent behviour good sir you get an a* from me#ahh but i really really want a few chapters just to explore why the adoption happened in the first place like WHY DID HE AGREE#this is a question that bugs me forever WHAT IS IT ABOUT IRUMA#is it the same thing that makes him so charismatic ? is it why he radiates main character energy ?#i suppose we’ll get it when we get more information about delkira because i highkey think they are inextricably linked somehow#but ugghhhh can that chapter come sooner please thanks#m!ik#welcome to demon school iruma kun#yellow is blathering yet again#iruma suzuki#sullivan

Idk why everyone thinks Crosshair was the chaotic misbehaving brother as a cadet. Mr. “Good soldiers follow orders” even without the chip? Mr. “Loyal to the Empire” even after they destroyed all Kaminoan cities and facilities and didn’t care enough to come back and see if there were any survivors? Mr. “Not immediately swayed by emotional convictions” even when they belong to those closest to him who he should trust above unseen authorities?
Even if you think obedience and compliance was hammered into him by those in charge and he had to learn to keep his head down or face the consequences, that doesn’t explain why it takes him so long to eventually accept the truth, despite the mounting empirical evidence he receives after the most dire possible circumstances that should show him that those in charge are wrong. It isn’t until Mayday’s death that Crosshair finally accepts the truth because it’s then that he’s being directly told by the people in charge that he and everyone like him is expendable and unnecessary.
Somebody with a rebellious youth is much more critical of authority figures even if they’re presently obeying them, and they’re much more ready to drop said authorities the second it’s a viable option and they physically can. Crosshair doesn’t behave like a dog that’s been beaten its whole life, he’s constantly making active decisions not only to follow the Empire but to enforce what the Empire dictates, even when he’s the one reaping the direct consequences of pushback on the ground for it. Because that’s what good soldiers do.
This guy was the kid following the rules by choice and getting mad at the others for finding loopholes or accomplishing things the ‘wrong’ way, especially if and when it got all of them in trouble (because they were kids and wouldn’t have always been right). Rules and structure are there for a reason. We’ve been here less than ten years, what on earth makes you think we know more than the people in charge? Why do I have to be punished because you guys couldn’t do as you were told?
To me the four of them (and Echo later) are a sliding scale when it comes to decision-making based on head vs heart. Crosshair and Tech are on one side, using logic and reason over emotion as their basis for decision-making and how they see the world, and Echo and Wrecker are more on the heart/instinct side of reasoning, putting people and ideals ahead of simply accomplishing objectives despite what the odds might be against them. Hunter’s the balance in the middle, being able to see both sides and weigh what the best option is based on the evidence and the context within which it’s being given. All of them have different fluctuating percentages of what’s going to motivate or drive them day by day, just based on the context of their circumstances, but that’s the general scale.
I think Hunter as a kid probably realized if he could get all of them to learn the rules as quickly as they could, then they’d know how to break them effectively with the least amount of repercussions and collateral damage. They were an experimental group for a reason and were likely given a modicum of wiggle room when it came to problem-solving, the Kaminoans not just allowing but pushing them to be more creative, flexible, and adaptable. They all know the hard rules of structure, chain of command, and behavioral compliance, but after that they’re given more freedom of choice. Their personal convictions inform both the why and how of following orders.
Wrecker is easier to figure out because he wears every thought and emotion on his sleeve and sees no reason not to. He’s more of a follower— Thinking is for other people, he’s a busy guy and man of action, give him something concrete with actionable directions and he’ll accomplish it with aplomb.
Tech, as a kid, likely knew both the spirit and letter of the law, which means he could see problems and solutions objectively regardless of his personal feelings/opinions and knew that rules are there to be guidelines: No structure is perfect and always following rules exactly was never going to always be the right decision. He would choose whichever seemed like the most logical, obvious route to success, finding loopholes and workarounds where he could as a means of balancing the consequences or fallout of said decision.
Hunter also knew both the spirit and letter of the law, but he was able to read situations and people better than Tech was, relying more on his gut instinct to tell him what the best course of action would be, even if that choice wasn’t the most logical. He’s a mediator and the best choice of leader because of his ability to get people working together by knowing how to convince each of them in their own way that this plan will accomplish their objective AND lead to the most amount of people being satisfied/happy in the end, them included. Despite the fact Hunter’s more reserved, he’s still a people person. It just happens to come from empathy, observation, and instinct, the latter two being qualities he was designed to specialize in.
Crosshair obeyed the letter of the law because structure exists for a reason and if that structure has yielded the best results and most success for the longest amount of time, then it’s obvious it must be the right one in place. Loopholes can be taken advantage of, but only when there isn’t an explicit wording against it or there is clear and mounting evidence that the rule doesn’t apply to him. To deviate from the majority in matters of how something is achieved is acceptable; to do so in matters of why is not.
#The Bad Batch#character analysis#Crosshair#Sergeant Hunter#Tech#Wrecker#Source: I WAS the kid who both pushed boundaries and tested the rules#But would follow them when they were the obvious right choice and/or I was given clear evidence for the reason the rule was there#But was ALSO the one getting into trouble for whatever arbitrary reason the authority figures in charge decided that day#because THEY weren’t in control of their emotions and were acting illogically and there was nothing I could do about it#Life is wonderful and complex#<- she says dryly#I’ve seen every side of things. trust me.#Omega in the beginning is almost pure heart but that’s because she’s a kid and lacks the life experience and teaching that will help inform#her developing sense of logic#But it’s why it’s good she has that exact range of people to learn from#Sidebar but I think this is all probably why Crosshair and Tech probably excelled at/enjoyed math#Math is a reliable constant#(Tho considering this is a galaxy far far away. I bet there were times that it wasn’t because space and ~the force~ are weird lol)#long post#Idk why but when I do character analysis I almost always start with asking ‘‘What were these people like as kids?’’ first#Which I think is why I like writing for characters who are siblings#Gives me something to go off of#Other family members are helpful depending on how relevant/canonical they are to the story but I can write for siblings with my eyes closed#hounds speaks

The recent post really made me realize just how much I love your version of Clearsky.
Dude was super religious while at the same time basically being in a pissing contest with it.
They gave him the most on the nose lesson on humility possible, and he doubles down on everything in an act of stubbornness that's almost admirable in how awful and stupid it is.
And out of all the BB villains bar Mapleshade, he wins. He is such a fucking menace that he forces his own religion to bribe him and then becomes a patron deity of said religion, and irreversibly changes his entire society for the worse through sheer force of will.
He believes that the world revolves around him and only him, and to be honest, I kinda see why he thinks that
Thistleclaw and Tigerstar wish they were half as successful as Clearsky, and he didn't do it through plotting or magic, but by refusing to learn his god damn lesson no matter how many times it came back to bite him.
I feel like, especially in the Current Day with the Events That Occur around us irl, it's a shame that we never get villains who win through SHEER force of will. It's so, so rare in fiction.
BB!Skystar isn't scheming, he doesn't have a master plan, he doesn't even really have an end goal at the height of his power. He just lives in his own head and does whatever the hell he wants.
That's it! So simple! No self-reflection, absolutely incapable of taking criticism, refuses to grow and change. He has a beautifully simple mind. And it is that very lack of conscious that leads to his strength. You can't shame the shameless. You can't convince him to amend his ways.
There's one way to overcome him; to defeat him, physically. To remove his power. Nothing else will work; he will keep coming back until he is stripped of it. In BB he is the first leader to die, because of that.
Even after Thunderstar refuses to kill a helpless opponent, Skystar took his last chance and went right back to war with it.
And he'll deliver a speech about everyone having one life to give, and about the goodness and righteousness of dying for a cause, but that's all just his rationalization. He can't confront the truth, so he never will. If he did think about it for more than a second... he would be the bad guy.
But he can't. He can't be the bad guy. Because then he would be wrong. So he will simply never think about it.
In the end, what does him in is the fact he got out-bullied by a bigger tyrant. He realized that his power would be threatened by there being less warfare, and he flinched first. His invulnerability was compromised, in that last moment, because it was the ONLY moment where he entertained self-doubt.
I just think he's neat
#HOW could anyone ever give this up for a shitty redemption arc??#Like... he's soo goooddd as a villain#He's EXCELLENT as the most simple. Most straightforward antagonist you ever seen.#What is the definition of evil? Utter self-benefit? In that sense he is evil#True evil. The human kind.#He isn't evil in the sadist sense. But that is very rare to begin with#His type is infinitely more common. And more interesting#Because it's not deep at all. It's very simple. If you try to DIVE DEEP to understand it you'll miss it completely#It feels good to get what you want.#It feels bad to acknowledge your own wrongdoing.#Two steps.#Better bones au#Bone babble#BB!Skystar
